Highlights:

Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke, BC, Interior Health Authority, 2006-2007: This extended care facility consists of three cottages that house residents with a wide range of cognitive and physical abilities. Working closely with facility staff, Harris & Harris developed a program around cognitive and environmental healing. This included opportunities for sensory stimulation through careful plant material selection, and range of spaces from calm and reflective to engaging and interactive. Connecting these spaces is a series of circular looping paths to assist in way finding and to minimize dead-ends which may be frustrating to dementia residents.

The design program includes outdoor dining and conversation areas accommodated with tables, chairs and benches. Open areas for group activities. A raised planter for gardening. Connections to existing pathway from all patios for extended walking. Semi-private areas for families or individuals
